Owner and Trainer

Katie Davies has been a Personal trainer & fitness coach for over 10 years, running a successful training studio in the U.K whilst traveling around the globe training private clients in their homes as well as coaching at fitness retreats and boot camps before traveling to Mexico and setting up the gym with partner Ali. Competing nationally as an athlete for many years as a professional gymnast, ironman triathlete and swimmer, she also holds a black belt in kick boxing and recently qualified for the national power lifting championships after coming 2nd in her weight category in the regionals.

Training and competing are her life and she loves passing on her skills and expertise to her clients based around the world motivating and coaching them to reach their body and health goals. Her passion, friendliness and fun motivational attitude are what she is known for not to mention the abundance of training techniques, qualifications and awards she holds from a lifetime of competing and training clients in the fitness industry.

Her style of training is a mix of body building, weight training, power lifting, mixed martial arts and HIIT that combines functional and strength training in a fun and unique way. Katie works with clients from all levels of abilities from those with injuries or who are complete beginners to competitive athletes looking to improve their performance or conditioning. Her sessions can be gruelling or relaxed depending on your needs but are always fun and motivational and tailored specifically for you. No two sessions are ever the same, you will leave with a massive smile on your face and an even bigger sense of achievement.

She is also a qualified Thai and deep tissue masseuse as well as a yoga instructor and provides one to one private training, private group training, online monthly training programs and fitness ebooks.

Ali Trainer and Owner

Alastair served in the British Royal Marines from age 18 – 21. Initially one of the un-fittest recruits, but with the resolve to never quit, made it through training and went on to become one of the fittest. With a newfound love for fitness Ali helped others who would struggle through the physical element of Commando training, and developed over that time a passion for helping others teaching.

He then transferred to the Royal Air force to specialize as a Physical Training Instructor due to his love of fitness. After 8 years of service though just after qualifying as a military Adventure Training Instructor, (the job he had joined the RAF to do) the government made his job redundant. The next few years post military service he taught on residential military boot camps, also qualifying as a yoga teacher, Thai and sports masseuse and Crossfit trainer.

After several years teaching for the winter months in Tulum Ali was inspired to set up ‘Tulum Jungle Gym’ with his partner Katie: a fully functional gym self designed and custom made – almost entirely in wood, stone & bamboo.

Despite being just over 1 year old Tulum Jungle Gym (est Feb 17) has attracted a lot of attention due to its uniqueness. It was featured on National Mexican News, used as a location shoot by MTV, featured in Men’s Health UK (May 2018), winning Luxury Travel Guide Award Fitness Retreat of the year 2017 award, as well as being famous for the number international athletes that post training at the gym – going viral with 20+ million views on social media.
